Jay Rock feat. Ab-Soul, Schoolboy Q, and Kendrick Lamar - Say Wassup

Black Hippy comes through with a unique video which sees the four homies taking turns directing the video. Dope video and dope song, Jay Rock's Follow Me Home drops July 26th.

Drake "Take Care" News

Drake is putting the finishing touches on his sophomore album Take Care. Recently he sat down with Rolling Stone, and they got the chance to talk to him and hear some of the highlights of the album. Check out the interview after the jump.

The Walking Dead Season 2 Trailer

The Walking Dead is the breakout show of last year from AMC. Last year we saw lives torn apart and we we saw panic in the face of adversity. This year, as people realize they may be the only one's left, things can only seemingly get worse. The trailer gives us a look ahead at the panic and terror the group faces, and the answers they all are looking for individually.

Pusha T feat. Tyler The Creator - Trouble On My Mind (Official Video)

Here is the official video to Pusha T's summer banger, "Trouble On My Mind". As it always is with Tyler The Creator, things are interesting. Pusha's follow-up mixtape to  Fear Of God, Fear Of God 2: Let Us Pray,  drops August 23rd. Keep Up.

Drive Trailer (Starring Ryan Gosling)

Drive is about a Hollywood stunt performer who moonlights as a wheelman, discovers that a contract has been put on him after a heist gone wrong. The movie has gotten rave reviews out of the Cannes Film Festival, and even won the award for Best Director for the movies Director, Nicholas Winding Refn. This is one of the movies I am looking forward to most this year. Check out the trailer after the jump.

Dexter Season 6 Trailer

Surprise! This came pretty quickly following the promos that have been released recently promoting season 6 of Dexter. Your favorite serial killer is back, and we can only hope Dexter is back to his old self after Lumen softened him up a bit towards the end of last season.

Young Jeezy - Shake Life

Young Jeezy drops the first single off of his upcoming album Thug Motivation: 103. I like what I hear. Check it out below.

The Amazing Spider-Man Trailer/Poster

The Amazing Spider-Man is a reboot of the still fresh Spider-Man franchise, the last one leaving a rather sour taste in audiences mouths'. If you may remember the last one had Tobey Maguire dancing and attempting to act like a bad ass. The Amazing Spider-Man will feature a new cast (Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen), and also a new Director, Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer). If the trailer is any indication, this new version of Spider-Man should be much improved, and a lot less corny. Check out the trailer after the jump.

Jay-Z & Kanye - Otis

The first offering from Watch The Throne since "H.A.M." in January, comes "Otis". Over the smooth sample of Otis Redding, Kanye and Jay give us what I'm sure is just the tip of iceberg from what will be the best Hip-Hop album that will come out this year.

Watch The Throne: Release Date & Production Credits

Finally, there is a REAL release date for Kanye & Jay-Z's Watch The Throne. And that date is August 1st. (digitally), and August 5th (physical copy). As for what producers will be on the project (other than Kanye himself), check for that after the jump.

The Dark Knight Rises Teaser Trailer

If you caught the final Harry Potter film this past weekend then you got an early look at Christopher Nolan's final installment in his Batman Trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises. If you didn't catch it, it has now made its' way online. As every Nolan film is, the movie is shrouded in secrecy, as there have been no real details divulged on the film yet, other than the cast. The trailer doesn't give much away other than a short speech by Detective Gordon, and we get a glimpse of Bane squaring off against Batman. Trailer looks fantastic. Check out a quick run down of the cast and the trailer after the jump.

Pharrell feat. Jay-Z - Frontin' (Video of the Day)

Today's video of the day comes all the way from 2003. The standout track from Neptunes Present: The Clones features Hov and also features a cameo from a young Lauren London. One of my all-time favorite Neptunes tracks.....Keep Up.

Kendrick Lamar x Pharrell Williams x Section80

Speakin of Kendrick, here we have one of the greatest producers to ever do it comin through to show him some love and give him much deserved props for what I think is the album of the year thus far, Section.80. Pharrell talks about the production and also shouts out his favorite tracks on the tape (Hol' Up and Riggamortus). Check out another one of MY favorites off of Section.80, "Fuck Your Ethnicity", after the jump.

Kendrick Lamar - Growing Apart (Video of the Day)

One of the standout tracks off of "(O)verly (D)edicated" comes the story of a relationship coming to its' end. I actually don't think this is even an official video but whoever did it killed it. Go get "(O)verly (D)edicated" now off iTunes. Have a great day.

Moruf - Crooklyn (Video of the Day)

If you're not up on Moruf do yourself a favor and go download his mixtape "Garden State of Mind" pronto. Hailing from New Jersey, Moruf is reminiscent of the days when lyrical ability and storytelling were valued. A favorite of mine off his mixtape is "Story of My Life", which I have included after the jump. This is my first installment of "Video of the Day" which I will be trying to do everyday. It could be fresh out the box, or it could be a random throwback...keep up.

Wale feat J. Cole - Bad Girls Club (Produced by J. Cole)

Wale comes through with his first cut off his upcoming MMG debut, "Ambition". Produced by Cole World himself, this one is aimed at the Bad girls of the world.

Frank Ocean - Novacane (Official Video)

This video has been out for a little while now but I just revisited it for the first time in a while and realized how ill it is. Also "Nostalgia, Ultra" may just be my favorite album this year thus far. Please look it up if you haven't done so yet.

Freeway - Listen

Consider me a fan of anything done by the duo of Freeway & Jake One. Their collabo album, "The Stimulus Package" would probably go close to the top of my 2010 top 10 list. And they continue their hot streak with "Listen". Check it out.

Mission Impossible 4: Ghost Protocol (Trailer)

Consider me a big fan of MI3, which saw Phillip Seymour Hoffman as the villain. As for the 4th installment to the lucrative franchise, from what I have seen thus far I would say I'm impressed. Simon Pegg and Jeremy Renner are great additions to the cast, and the trailer (accompanied by Eminem's "Won't Back Down"), looks fantastic. Catch it after the jump.

ASAP Rocky - Purple Swag

Let me make this vehemently clear, I'm not posting this because I think it's dope, nor do I expect any of you to think as much. I'm posting it because the dudes over at madburyclub.com did an excellent write up on the "here today, gone tomorrow" hype machine that exists in Hip-Hop these days. Everyone is so overly eager to get on the bandwagon just to say they were there first that we hardly take the time to really evaluate the artist and see where they will be down the road. That's why we get people  like ASAP Rocky and Kreayshawn getting millions and millions of views when there is absolutely no substance or even value to their music. Here is an excellent excerpt from the article. You can get the whole interview in the link after the jump.
Social networking has made experiencing music a communicative practice: it has trained us to comment on music as swiftly as we now listen to it. As a result, the general conversation moves fast: rappers we were sure about six months ago are now foggy memories. Remember Cyhi Da Prince? Donnis? OJ Da Juiceman? Vado? Gilbert Forte? Childish Gambino? It doesn’t have to be this way. Oldheads, I know you guys want to maintain relevance in this young man’s world, but have confidence in the discerning taste that got you the editorial gig you’re at now. Don’t lie to yourselves. Kids, I know you want your interviews to get retweeted and go viral so you can get a bunch of followers and hopefully, some day, get free shit from Nike. But how about profiling some of the new artists you really enjoy, as opposed to the ones you think you’re supposed to?

Asher Roth - Summertime

This gets a post strictly because of the content and the fine ass women running around. Asher does his thing as usual as well.

50/50 (Trailer)

50/50 stars the "on the rise" Joseph Gordon-Levitt and the always funny Seth Rogen. You can add this to my my must-see list, as these two both look like they did a great job on the film, so I have high hopes for it. Plot synopsis and Trailer after the jump.

Lil' Wayne - Sorry 4 The Wait (Mixtape)

Late last night, Lil Wayne's "Sorry 4 The Wait", made its' way onto the net. I have yet to give it a listen but all I can really say is I hope Wayne has stepped his game up immensely, because since his release he has dropped maybe two memorable verses. Here's to hoping he comes through with some heat. Download link after the jump.

Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows (Trailer)

So far this year, there haven't been very many films that have a guaranteed purchased ticket by me after seeing the trailer, but this has me sold. Robert Downey Jr. reprises his role as Sherlock Holmes in what is sure to be one of the more entertaining films of the holiday season. Check out the trailer below.

J. Cole - Work Out (Video)

"Man that thing in them jeans too fat for iiiit
Rebound so I caught it off the backboooard"

J. Cole comes through with the video for his first single off of his debut album "Cole World: The Sideline Story". This is the cut right now, expect a club and girls dancin to this, not a whole lot of storyline for the video, but it fits the song. Check the Kanye and Paula Abdul sample.

Dark Knight Rises Teaser Poster

The Dark Knight Rises doesn't come out for another year but last night the first teaser poster for the ending to what's sure to be a memorable last entry in the trilogy, hit the net. It looks as if the city is falling to pieces and it forms to the symbol of Batman. I love it, and supposedly the teaser trailer for The Dark Knight Rises will premier attached to the final Harry Potter this week. So check back here for more news on The Dark Knight Rises and check out the teaser poster below.

J.Cole x Kendrick Lamar mixtape is now an album

J. Cole drops a bomb on us and says that what was previously going to be a mixtape, has now turned into a full blown collabo album between him and Kendrick Lamar. I couldn't be more hyped for this seeing that these are two of my favorite artists doing it right now. Skip to about the 3:30 mark for the news on the collabo. Cole World x Section.80

SBTRKT feat. Drake - Wildfire (remix)

This has been on repeat all morning, I'm a little late with this but so what, it still bangs. Track embedded below.

Beats, Rhymes, & Life: The Travels Of A Tribe Called Quest

Today the critically acclaimed documentary about A Tribe Called Quest, directed by Michael Rappaport, is opening in select theaters across the US. Tribe is arguably my all-time favorite group up there with Mobb Deep and Outkast, so even without the rave reviews I was amped to see this. The story depicts how Tribe came together, and how they fell apart. Below I've embedded the trailer:

Bonus: Check The Rhime (A personal favorite Tribe cut of mine)

Kreayshawn - Gucci Gucci

I'm posting this strictly for Slim Chuck, who supposedly get's swagged out to this before he hits the town these days, right Slim? Bahahahahahahaha

Kanye West feat. Bon Iver - Lost in the World (Live at Coachella)

This is too ill, it's a little old by now but I had to post it on the strength of performance. Bon Iver kills it as well.

The Cool Kids feat. Asher Roth, Chip Tha Ripper, and Boldy James

Here's a new cut by The Cool Kids off of their album, "When Fish Ride Bicycles", dropping July 12th. Asher rips this.

Pusha T feat. Tyler The Creator - Trouble On My Mind

This is the first song off of Pusha T's Fear of God Part 2:Let Us Pray....and cooooottt dammmn! This just jumped to the top of my "illest songs of the summer" list. Beat is crazy, produced by the neptunes, DOOOOPE!

Bon Iver On Late Night With Jimmy Fallon

His performance on this is absolutely crazy so check it out below. If you are wondering what song he is singing, it's not his own. He's covering Donny Hathaway and Bonnie Raitt.

First official pic from "The Dark Knight Rises"

Has the hype from Heath ledger's performance of The Joker died down yet? It did? Good. Because production has begun on the third and final installment of Chrisopher Nolan's Batman trilogy, and with all the names involved I can all but guarantee that this film will be one no one is going to want to miss. Don't even get me started on Christopher Nolan's unblemished track record for amazing films. Below is a picture of Bane, played by Tom Hardy, who you may remember as the cool as shit Eames from "Inception". Bane, as some of you Batman fans may know, is famous for breaking Batman's back in the comics. So I guess the question is, will he or won't he?? Check out the first official image below.

The Dark Knight Rises is to be released July 20th, 2012.

Bon Iver - Beth/Rest

Bon Iver released what is probably one of the better albums I can think of in recent memory. His follow up to the critically acclaimed "For Emma, Forever Ago", is an outstanding piece of work that will no doubt be on many critics year end top 10 list. Below is my favorite song on the album, the Phil Collins reminiscent, "Beth/Rest".

Frank Ocean - Nostalgia, Ultra

This right here...this right here might be my favorite album released this year of any genre. Frank Ocean is a member of the "odd" collective "Odd Future". But out of all the members, Ocean stands out the most. His crooning is something you don't hear often and he has a style of his own. If I were to say his music is R&B I would probably be doing it a disservice. On "Nostalgia, Ultra" he covers MGMT and The Eagles, as well as lacing you with his great original music. This  is a free mixtape, so check the link below if you have the right software to dl it. Also check out "Acura Integurl" below, it did not make the mixtape but is one of my personal favs by Ocean.

Here is the link for his mixtape Nostalgia, Ultra. You will need winrar to open the file if you do not have it dl it now.

Common feat. Nas - Ghetto Dreams

This will serve as Common's first single off his new album, "The Dreamer, The Believer". Both Nas and Comm went in on this. Check it out.

Beyonce - Best Thing I Never Had

I'm posting this on the strength of what Beyonce is wearing alone.

"It ain't safe in the city WATCH THE THRONE"

Above is the OFFICIAL cover for Jay-Z & Kanye's "Watch The Throne". Yes, Kanye and Jay have teamed up to release an album TOGETHER. Now that I have made your mind explode all over your computer screen listen up. As of yet there has not been an official single released. As some of you may know "H.A.M." was released back in January but apparently may not make the album. Tonight Jay-Z held a listening party in a small hotel room in NYC. Only a select few journalists were aloud to hear it and they were SWORN TO SECRECY....at least until tomorrow morning. Here are the few details I have managed to gather through various Internet sources and my knack for rumors:

*The album will not be released though Itunes, they want listeners to hear it as a whole project, sorry

*The album is now available for pre-order on Jay-Z's website at http://lifeandtimes.com/about

*When you order the album online it says the shipping date is August 2nd, although no official release has been given....yet!

*The first single is called "Lift Offf" and will feature Hov's wifey Beyonce, I have heard from a VERY credible source that it will premiere July 11th on Ryan Seacrest's top 40.

*No producers have been confirmed other than Kanye himself and Jeff Bhasker. Rumored producers include; Q-Tip, Madlib, Hit-Boy, Pete Rock, and Rza.

I will be gathering info from the listening session in the morning and posting it on this post so check back tomorrow if you want info on how the session went and what this epic album is going to sound like. All I can say is that Jay and Ye are two of my all-time favorite artists and my expectations for this is that it will be the opposite of what the holocaust was. So I hope it's at least that good.

Since there are so many reviews I'm just gonna go ahead and post the links, and to be honest most of what is said in them are pretty similar. Check em out below.

Curb Your Enthusiasm: Season 8

The funniest show on television is back this sunday. I've posted two trailers for your enjoyment. Seriously, funniest.show.on.television.

Entourage: The Final Season

Yeah, you read that right, this is the final season for Entourage. Somewhere women of the world are rejoicing that they will have their 7:30 time slots back on Sunday nights for themselves. Myself, have mixed emotions. On one hand I'm sad it's coming to an end, on the other it's probably time to end it. The last few seasons haven't exactly been on par with the first few and that's usually a sign that it's time to walk away. If you are wondering what the song is playing in the background, it's Eminem and Royce Da 5'9"s collaborative effort, Bad Meets Evil "Fast Lane". Check out the trailer for the final season below.

The Weeknd - High For This

This is one of my favorite tracks off The Weeknds "House of Balloons". If you aren't familiar with them just go ahead right now and download "House of Balloons" just about anywhere. The Weeknd is an R&B singer out of Canada and recently signed to Drake's imprint OVOXO. "House of Balloons" is one of the best releases this year and has recieved outstanding reviews. Check Out "High For This".

Kendrick Lamar - Keisha's Song

This is my favorite track off of Section.80, which is also currently my favorite hip-hop album this year (although I believe it's technically a mixtape). I'm trying to work out the kinks on this so I can play music directly on the page but I haven't quite figured out how to embed tracks quite yet so bare with me.

I would like to add that this whole album is incredible. If you aren't up on Kendrick Lamar this isn't his first piece of work. He also has dropped the Kendrick Lamar EP, and (O)verly (D)edicated. Both of which I believe are available for download on itunes. His music is worth the cop so do yourself a favor and go get this on itunes right now.

July 7th 2011

This is my very first post here on hitchcockandhiphop. I'll be posting reviews on songs, albums, movies, and posting songs and trailers when I feel it's necessary. If you like talking about these things then this is the place for you, if not then ROLLLL OUUTTTT!
